What should I prepare to register for a new phone number?

  • Prepare ARC, passport, bank account number, along with your bank book.
  • Some phone companies also require a registration fee when creating a phone contract, which differs based on each company.

Are there English Services available?

  • KT Global Stores that can speak English: https://expatblog.tistory.com/176, located all over Korea.

If I am under 19 years old can I make a 2 year contract?

  • At KT, you can make a  2 year sponsorship contract with your family member, who is also a foreigner and in Korea. Then, you need to pay a 200,000 KRW deposit (외국인보증금) and when the contract ends you receive your deposit back with proof of a receipt.
  • At KT, instead of making a contract you can make a number using a passport and ARC. When making  a new number, there are two types of plan you can purchase, prepaid and postpaid.

Are there any other alternatives than phone numbers?

  • You can acquire an Internet Egg which provides Wi-Fi connection for apps that need the internet.
