• No, SNU provides a dormitory, but please be mindful of the application dates. If you miss the application dates there is no way for you to apply for a dormitory until the following semester. 
• Remember that applications enter a raffle every semester to get a spot. Be prepared and have a plan in case you do not get a spot, make a plan where to live, and have some sort of savings.

• Apartment fee: which includes deposit, monthly rent, maintenance fee, and utilities (such as water, gas, internet, and electricity).
• Contract length: most of the places have a minimum length of the contract, either 1 month, 6 months, or a year contract. 
• Location: SNU provides a shuttle bus that runs from SNU Station Area and Nokdu (Daehak-dong) Area, in terms of convenience these 2 areas are the best, without having to consider transportation expenses.
• Room type: there are multiple choices of room, you can choose between single/double room, a share house, or even an apartment. They also have an option such as a fully furnished option or share house. 
• Cleanliness: mold can be a big issue in Korea, so we recommend when visiting apartments to take a look at the state of the wallpaper, and bathroom. Take measures to prevent your apartment from being humid. 

• Typically, the higher the deposit, the lower rent or utility fees you can get. Otherwise, you can have a potentially lower deposit with higher rent or utility fees. There are very few places that give you a low deposit, and low rent. Along with potentially higher deposits could mean better places.
• Also be careful of your deposit, through some apps there could be some scammers that can run away with your deposit. Make sure that if you do give a deposit you receive a receipt or pay for insurance on your deposit.
• Usually you have to pay the deposit together with the rent of the first month on the day you move in, so be mindful that you have the money.

• Roughly, the real estate agent fee can be calculated as follows :           (Deposit + 100 x Monthly Rent) x 0.4% VAT
• Please keep in mind that there could be some scams when it comes to real estate agent fees, so be careful when paying a fee, and make sure that you are provided a breakdown of what you are paying, i.e. through a receipt.

• There are apps like Jikbang or Peter Pan that provide housing information. However, these apps are not 100% reliable, so when choosing a room to live in, we recommend to go and see the rooms in person.

• You can search “용달 서비스” where you are provided a moving truck to fill. If you want a worker to help you, an extra cost can be included into the service. But the driver in some cases can help you load your stuff onto the truck as the drivers are paid on a job basis.
• If you do not have big furniture,  another option is to ask many of your friends to help you move by putting your pieces of stuff into suitcases, and traveling by subway.

• There can be a hefty fine if you do not separate trash correctly, food trash, recyclables, and regular trash. Be mindful that each apartment complex has its own rules. Make sure to ask when you are moving about the trash rules.
