What insurance do I qualify for as an International Student?
There are multiple insurances: Korean National Health Insurance, Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance, KB Insurance, Meritz Fire Insurance, Dongbu Insurance, your country’s abroad insurance, etc.. Some department programs or scholarship programs also have some insurances that you can qualify for. Check which plan would be suitable for you!
What documents do I need to submit to get the National Health Insurance?
For freshman student, you are required to submit the Certificate of Enrollment which can be found on your MySNU account.
For non-freshman student, you are required to submit the Certificate of Registration which can be found on your MySNU account.
What are the documents needed for reimbursement of insurance?
It depends on each insurance company and it is better to inquire about what documents the insurance company needs before you pay your bill at the hospital. Generally, they need an official receipt together with the list of medical services received. Be mindful to get the official receipt right away! Also if they give you some sort of prescription some insurances reimburse you for those costs as well!
Please keep in mind that not all procedures are possible, so please be mindful when going to a doctor in Korea.
